Florida Vaca

If you are my friend on Facebook or follow me on Instagram (and I'm sure most of you are) You saw I was at the beach last week.  This has become a tradition for my friend Allison and I.  This is our third year to go.  We normally stay in Destin, this year we stayed in Fort Walton and it was great.  We were at the Ramada Resort on the beach.  A quarter of a mile from the hotel was a boardwalk with shops and places to eat.  It was fantastic.

I tried extremely hard to stick with my clean eating and working out while I was in Florida.  I would love to say I succeed, but I didn't.  I didn't fail either, if that makes since.  Luckily, I love seafood and I love grilled fish so that helped me a lot.  I will not tell a lie and I did have some fried shrimp at Bubba Gump's and it was well worth it.

I planned on getting up the four days I was there and working out.  That lasted two days.  The first day I was there I got up, went to the gym, ran a mile and did some body weight exercises.  Then for the fun of it I went to run on the beach.  I'm not sure why I did it.  It was terrible and I made it about a half a mile.  Then I swam some laps in the heated pool.  The next morning I got up and walked two miles on the beach and swam laps.  Sometimes I do dumb things and I decided to walk barefoot and that caused my arch to start hurting again.  I am still nursing that.

Ready to for a run
As bad as running on the beach was you can't beat this view
The bed of seashells I found on my morning walk.

We did a lot of sitting on the beach and relaxing, some shopping and eating some good dinners.  I came back the same weight I left, which was an accomplishment in my book.  Now I'll share some pictures.  They are all out of whack, but it will be ok!

PSA.   If you are on a weight loss journey please watch Extreme Weight Loss.  It is the most inspiring show on TV.  If watching these transformations do not get your butt in gear, I do not know what will.  Tuesdays from 7-9.  And if inspiration doesn't get you to watch, Chris Powell is enough.

I love doing progress pictures.  It keeps me motivated.  What keeps you motivated?

Dear 16 Year Old Megan

In honor of Throwback Thursday, let's write a letter to myself.

Dear 16 Year Old Megan,

Stop being so down on yourself.  You are not fat.  Ten years from now you'll kill to have that body back  You will look by in envy at your skinny face and flabless arms.

Please stop wearing overalls, and you really need to buy better shoes.  And stop with the butterfly clips.  The images of your bad clothing choices will haunt you for years to come.  Thank God you did, however, lose the boy jeans and decide to buy your jeans from the right department of the store!

Learn how to put on make up, STAT.

Study your math, you're not going to be a professional tennis player, you are going to teach small children, and this Common Core math would be less stressful if you actually paid attention!

Don't stop Weight Watchers or walking.  You don't think you will, but you're going to gain all that weight back, and then some.  Then you're going to be fat and miserable and struggling to get it off for the next ten years.

You really need to do something with that frizzy hair!

We all know that no matter how much you smile about it, you hate your car.  Just wait, your time is coming.  You will have your dream car in no time, in fact you will have some sweet rides in your future.

Calm your butt down.  Your temper causes you to lose your two front teeth, the night before prom.  How lame are you?  So not cool.

Spend more time with your family, you'll miss them when they are gone.

Stop having pointless fights with your friends, believe it or not you will stalk talk and occasionally hang out ten years later.

You will get to kiss that boy you have a crush on, it was worth the wait.

Keep having fun and being adventurous.  You will look back and truly know that this was some of the best years of your life.

Sincerely,
27 year old Megan.

CMA Fest Weekend

I am a big country music fan.  Plus I'm a big fan of live music.  Also I am a huge fan of Music City.  So it's a no brainer that CMA Fest is one of my favorite things on the planet.

I feel in love with CMA Fest last year when I went.  It was amazing.

This year I wasn't sure I was getting to go.  I was a little bummed.

However, by pure accident I ordered tickets for the Opry to see Carrie Underwood on Friday June 7.  I didn't realize that it was CMA Fest weekend until I tried to book a hotel and there were not hotels in Nashville.  Oops.

So I booked a hotel in Brentwood and decided to make the most out of my happy mistake!

So Friday, we rolled into down in a ran storm and found our hotel.  We changed clothes and got ready then headed out to the Opry.  We went to Orpy Mills Mall first, I hit up the Vera Bradley Outlet and got some sweet deals.

Then we went to the Opry.  It was a great show, I did miss Little Jimmy Dickens though.  It was Carrie Underwood's fifth anniversary as an Opry Member.  I have only seen her one other time and that was at CMA fest last year.  She is flawless and is an amazing talent!  If you have never been to the Opry, you should go!

We had purchased tickets for Fan Fair on Saturday.  So we woke up extremely early and drove into the Nashville.  Fan Fair was crazy this year!  It was at the new Music City Center and the place was HUGE!  Everybody and their brother were trying to meet Duck Dynasty.  I, however, was more excited to meet Mark Wills.
Then we walked around Fan Fair, got free stuff and took some pictures with Dog and Beth and the Cast of Nashville.
Then we took some really zoomed in pictures of Duck Dynasty since there was no way we where getting up there to meet them.
I also met a little band (really little) The Cadillac Three.  They opened up for a band I have seen before but I don't remember who.  I call this picture "Too Much Hair"

Then we ventured down Broadway for some more free stuff on our way to River Front for some good country music.  There were saw my boyfriend, Jerrod Niemann.
After we listened to Jerrod (yes I was that close, it's not zoomed in much), we walked back down Broadway and stopped at the ABC Tent where we got to meet Jason Thompson (Dr. Patrick Drake from General Hospital).  I got to jump in line and met him really quick so I didn't have time worry about what I was going to say to him, so my conversation with him was normal.  I told him congrats on his Emmy nomination and told him that he should win, which I totally believe.

After we met Jason Thompson I dragged Lindsay to The Tequila Cowboy to get the listen to the Springs.  They are my favorite!  I saw them in December 2011 and see them every time we are in Nashville at the same time.  Usually I yell at them and tell them what I want them to play, and occasionally get on stage and play tambourine or dance.  They are really great people and I believe you should got their website and check them.

If you are a music fan, or a fan of having fun, you should most def make the trip to Nashville during CMA Fest.  There is so much going on in downtown Nashville during that weekend.  You don't even have to fork out the big bucks for the concerts at LP Field.  I am counting down the days until I'm there again!

Motivation Monday

This a story of two very different girls.

This is the first girl...
Hot Springs 2012

Nashville July 2012
CMA Fest June 2012

Nashville 2012

July 2012

Christmas 2012
She is 26 years old and is a third grade teacher.  She enjoys buying shoes, going out to eat, going to musicals and going to Nashville (a lot).  She has a pretty good life.  She drives a sweet red Mustang (with pink interior lights) and has the best friends a girl could want.  She is a funny girl and has big dreams.  She believes your only as old as you feel and she still feels like a kid.  She loves pink and sparkly things.  She never meets a stranger and could talk to anybody.

But that is what she wants you to see.  She wants you to see her with a smile on her face and she wants to see all the fun she has.  She doesn't want you to know that inside, she isn't happy.  She isn't satisfied and she is disgusted with herself.  She knows something has got to give.  She is tired of feeling this way.

Now, I would like you to meet the second girl.

Hardy 2013

May 2013
She is 27 years old and is going to be a 2nd grade teacher next year.  She has recently graduated with her Masters degree.  She enjoys shopping (and is addicted to Kiki La'Rue), she paints her fingernails a different color every couple of days, she loves to sing karaoke, and watching the Walking Dead.  She loves to laugh and smile.  And she smiles a lot.  She enjoys going to the gym and lifting weights, and her favorite thing to do is squats.  She is a confident and determined woman.  Giving up is not in her vocabulary.

You see, I was that first girl.  I was that girl that was terribly miserable in my own skin, but you may have never known that.   You may have never guessed I battled myself every day, but I did.

Now I am that second girl.  I am in the best shape I have been in a long time.  Am I skinny?  No.  Am I perfect?  No.  Am I happy?  Yes.  Am I proud?  Yes.  Am I done?  No.

I still struggle, I still cry, I still feel like that first girl some days.  I guess I always will.  But when I look at old pictures, I don't know who that girl is.  She seems like someone else, not me.

Everyone has a story.  This is mine.  What is yours?
Everyone's journey starts somewhere, start yours.  It's scary and it's hard, but it is worth it.  When you can look at pictures from a year ago and not recognize the girl you were, it is a strange and liberating feeling.

I posted a picture on facebook about a week or so ago that said You can cry because you're overweight or you can cry at the gym, only one has helped me lose weight.  And that's the truth.  I have shed many tears about my weight and how I felt about myself, they were wasted tears.  The tears I have cried since January 2013---the ones of happiness, the ones of defeat, the ones of exhaustion...those tears have mattered.  Those tears meant I was trying and trying hard.

I am sure it seems like I'm tooting my own horn....but TOOT TOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am proud!

Miss Megan's Must Haves

So....
When I sat down at this computer and felt like blogging, I was in a rather bad mood.  I figure there was one of two ways this post could go.  I could throw a pity party and talk about my problems and my struggles and possibly cry, or I could suck it up, put on my big girl panties and have some fun.

Luckily for everyone involved I chose option two.

Since I am feeling down in the dumps, I don't really wish to toot my own horn about losing weight and toning up, even though that does make me feel better about myself.

I decided that I would let you guys (read ladies) in on some of my best kept secerts.

My biggest best kept secret is this stuff for ELF (eyes lips and face) Studio.  It's Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter.  It is a whooping $3 and can be found online at ELF or at Target.  It is seriously the best stuff...like EVER.  I use the concealer under my eyes, (duh) and then put a dab of the highlighter there too.  Then, here's the kicker, I put the highlighter on my eyelids as primer, and your eyeshadow stays on all day!!!!  SERIOUSLY ALL DAY!  For $3 you need this stuff.....like yesterday.  If you can't find it at a local store, shop online, they are always having some kind of deal :).

buy this...now
My second best kept secret is something my dear friend Amber turned me on to.  It is Sinful Colors Nail Polish.  I found it at Wal-Mart, but of course you can look online for stores that sale it.  It was $1.98 at Wal-Mart.  And it literally last for a week, even without a topcoat.  And there are a ton of colors.  It makes me smile.  If you are like me and paint your nails constantly do yourself a favor and check into this stuff.

The last three are three of my favorite colors, Cinderalla (it's a blue shimmer), Mint Candy Apple and Island Coral (that is on my nails currently)

Piko Tops, are my next best kept secret.  I am sure most of you have discovered these already, but if you haven't please buy one.  They are comfortable and flattering on everyone.  They literally feel like you are wearing pajamas and you can find them just about anywhere.  Google it.

The website Modest Closet is one the best boutiques with the best prices.  Check it out ASAP.

So, that's all my secrets I feel like sharing with you.  I can't give it all away.
