Something Has Changed Within Me

Defying Gravity

"Something has changed within me.  Something is not the same.  I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game."

Yeah, I'm through.  Mostly through with being Ms. Nice Guy.  There are some people that didn't listen to the golden rule....Treat People The Way You Want To Be Treated.  I am pretty sure I am going to start treating people the way the treat me.  Friendship is a two-way street.  It cannot strive with one person making all the effort.  I, personally, am tired of making the effort.  So, therefore if you are reading this, and you don't hear from me in the next couple of days, you can assume this is directed to you.

Thank you and good night

First Amendment

Recently in school we studied the Constitution.  If you have ever taken a Civics class you know about the first ten amendments, widely known as the Bill of Rights.  Today I want to focus on number one, but if you need a refresher course you can click on this link to find a nifty Bill of Rights for kids, you know cause Old English is hard to understand.  Anyways, on to number 1.

For those of you that didn't pass Civics, don't remember it, or don't feel like clicking my link, the First Amendment pretty much gives us some big rights.  To pretty much sum it up, we have to right to practice what religion we want, we have the right to publish things like newspapers and books, and we have to right to petition the government for changes.  It also gives us the freedom of speech.  We can say what want, when we want and all that stuff.  Freedom of speech is one of our rights and cannot be taken away.  No matter how uninformed the speaker is.

Recently I have had major issues with this whole freedom of speech thing.  Before we dig any further into this.  I want you, yes you reading this, to take a good look at yourself.  Are you perfect?  Good, neither am I!  Do you have flaws?  Yes, me too (like these two planet resembling zits that have decided to camp out on my face).  Good, now that we have established that we are all not flawless nor perfect, we can continue.  I just want my point to get across that I know that I am not at fault sometimes as well.

While we have the right to say what we want, there is a time and a place for it.  I will be the first to admit that I have made mistakes on when the proper time and place is to air thing.  I just urge you to think about things before you say them, or especially post them somewhere.  It's hard to take things back once the are said.  Yes, you can delete posts and get things off but still.  Before you start, get the facts and remember things, especially when typed can come across in a way you didn't mean.

Please remember to respect the first amendment and your right to say what you want.

Thank you and goodnight.
