Backlash

Apparently I need to make some clarifications. 1.  I am an open book.  Always have been.  I tell it how it is.  I am not shy.  I don't easily get embarrassed.  I started writing this blog for the fun of it.  I didn't even publish or share most of it for a long time.  I shared my first post and got lots of positive feedback from my friends and family.  Most of the people told me that loved that I was honest and wasn't afraid to be myself, that's something I am proud of. 2.  Something else I am proud of is that fact I do have a relationship with God.  We're tight.  I know there is someone out there for me.  I know it will all be in His timing.  Funny things seem to happen to me when I am single and dating so I thought I would share those thoughts and feelings.  It doesn't mean I'm depressed, need therapy, or dont' believe in God and His plan for me. 3.  When I wanted to start blogging, the advice on blog...

Single and Fabulous Once Again

I find myself single once again, although I never quite lost my fabulous-ness.  The breakup was something that needed to happen, and while I can't say that it didn't hurt, I am ok with it at this point.   But, I have come to realize that for most of my adult life, I have been in a relationship.  I guess that's why I find being single so dang hard now.  Granted, I spent my teenage years suffering through the single stages, but since the ripe old age of 21 I have spent most of my days committed to another individual (not counting the summers I took off from boyfriend #1).  The longest period I have been single since 2007 is a whooping six months.  In the week since I have been single it hasn't taken me very long to remember all the reasons I hate being single.  For instance the everybody's in love be me feeling.  I love my friends and coworkers to pieces but I get tired of feeling like the only person that is alone.  I have some very wonde...

Single on Spring Break

This year I planned a getaway to St. Louis for Spring Break.  Katie, Andi, and Lindsay joined me on this trip.  I found myself single three days before we left, so I was prepared to have a wonderful time.  I was single and ready to mingle.  We left out early Monday morning.  The ride down there was interesting to say the least.  Katie tried to make me use the bathroom at a barn, (it was a convenience store shaped like a barn) but took me to McDonald's instead.  When we got to St. Louis we went to the brewery, which Katie declared smells like beer.  We had a good time at the brewery and then ventured to St. Louis Mills to shop.  After a little shopping we went to the NASCAR SpeedPark for some Go-Kart racing.  I won.  I lapped Katie about 20 times.  I hit her once and she was not happy about it.  After that, we went to check in.  That was an experience in itself.  They had my name down wrong.  Apparently I am ...

Something Has Changed Within Me

Defying Gravity "Something has changed within me.  Something is not the same.  I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game." Yeah, I'm through.  Mostly through with being Ms. Nice Guy.  There are some people that didn't listen to the golden rule....Treat People The Way You Want To Be Treated.  I am pretty sure I am going to start treating people the way the treat me.  Friendship is a two-way street.  It cannot strive with one person making all the effort.  I, personally, am tired of making the effort.  So, therefore if you are reading this, and you don't hear from me in the next couple of days, you can assume this is directed to you. Thank you and good night

First Amendment

Recently in school we studied the Constitution.  If you have ever taken a Civics class you know about the first ten amendments, widely known as the Bill of Rights.  Today I want to focus on number one, but if you need a refresher course you can click on this link to find a nifty Bill of Rights for kids, you know cause Old English is hard to understand.  Anyways, on to number 1. For those of you that didn't pass Civics, don't remember it, or don't feel like clicking my link, the First Amendment pretty much gives us some big rights.  To pretty much sum it up, we have to right to practice what religion we want, we have the right to publish things like newspapers and books, and we have to right to petition the government for changes.  It also gives us the freedom of speech.  We can say what want, when we want and all that stuff.  Freedom of speech is one of our rights and cannot be taken away.  No matter how uninformed the speaker is.  Recen...

100 Places To See Before You Die...Megan's Version

*Disclaimer****There's really not 100 places mentioned in this blog :) Tonight as I was wondering around Facebook, I saw one of my friends post a link to a survey type thing titled 100 Places To See Before You Die.  You checked the places you have been to and it said something about people going to more than 9 are above average or something.  I clicked on it just to see how I compare to others.  I had only been to two of the hundred places, The Gateway Arch and Disney World.  That means there's 98 places on the last I haven't seen.  Most where out of the country.  I guess that should have been a fire under my butt.  Like saying "Oh man, I really need to get traveling and see these places."  And for a brief second I did think that maybe I was lacking some experiences.  However, after that brief second I realized that I was not lacking.  Sure there are places I still want to go to, but I have done so much here.  So here you hav...

Miss Megan's Rules For Life

Do any of you remember the song from the 90's "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)" by Baz Luhrmann?  Well, it really wasn't a song, more like some guy reading some other guys speech with music behind it.  They gave lots of great "rules" or advice for life.  I always liked it and thought there was good advice in there.  Here is the link to the video on YouTube if you need a refresher.   Anyways I said all that to say, here is my advice and rules for life. A Little Back Story This idea for this blog came to me in the bathroom of Upper Crust last week.  I know sounds nutty.  I was there watching the Cotton Bowl (Woo Pig Sooie, anybody?) with my friends.  Allison and I went to the restroom and there was a line of ladies waiting, there were two other people there in front of Allison and I.  After one went in the next open stall, the rest of stood in front of the other "occupied" stall for another minute when it occurred to us that it was...
